At Rockland BJJ there are a variety of classes. If a student enrolls in our curriculum, he or she may participate in each type of class, which are: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (with the Gi uniform), Submission Grappling, and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). For information about class schedule, class times, and class pricing, please call Chino or stop by the academy at your convenience.
BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) Class

In BJJ class, students learn the traditional Jiu-Jitsu style with the gi, or kimono. This class encompasses throws, choke holds, joint locks, sweeps, and other techniques that can be used with the Gi.
Submission Grappling Class (No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu)
Requirements:
T-shirt or rash guard, shorts
Suggested Equipment:
Knee pads, mouth piece, groin protector
Submission Grappling is just like BJJ class except it is without the gi, which involves different techniques and minor tweaks from BJJ class.
MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Class
Requirements:
T-shirt or rash guards, shorts, Knee pads, mouth piece, groin protector, shin pads, Boxing and/or MMA gloves and head gear.
MMA class involves students learning how to blend their Jiu-Jitsu with different martial arts. At Rockland BJJ we blend Muay Thai, Boxing, and Wrestling with our Jiu-Jitsu in MMA class. Students will learn stand up fighting techniques, wrestling techniques and undergo strength and conditioning drills.
Regardless of which class it is, every class begins with a warm-up, followed by stretching, drills, techniques, and then live sparring aka "rolling". Rockland BJJ makes it easy for students to have fun, become healthy, and prepare for combat or competition at the same time. Equipment is not expected on a student's first day, but can be ordered through Chino.
